Specific praise beats general praise. 'You put both shoes away without being asked' tells a child exactly what worked. 'Good job' does not.

Never take back a token that has been earned. Removing a reward turns a system built on encouragement into a system built on fear, and children stop trusting it.

If a goal is not being met after a week, the goal is probably too big. Shrink it until success is likely, then build from there.
